Turkey Biscuit Skillet

Turkey Biscuit Skillet is a delicious and comforting one-pan meal that combines ground turkey, vegetables, and a biscuit topping. Here's a basic recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (e.g., carrots, peas, corn)
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary (optional)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)

For the Biscuit Topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup milk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large oven-safe skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium-high heat until it's browned and cooked through. Break it into small pieces as it cooks. Remove any excess fat if necessary.

  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the onion becomes translucent.

  4. Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.

  5. Add the cream of mushroom soup, chicken broth, salt, pepper, and any optional herbs (thyme and rosemary). Stir everything together until well combined. Let the mixture simmer for a few minutes until it thickens slightly.

  6. If you'd like, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the filling.

  7. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt for the biscuit topping.

  8. Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry ingredients. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to work the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.

  9. Pour in the milk and stir until a sticky dough forms.

  10. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough evenly over the turkey and vegetable mixture in the skillet.

  11. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through, and the filling is bubbling.

  12. Carefully remove the skillet from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, and then serve your Turkey Biscuit Skillet.
